The primary stage of the first Nanotechnology Startup event ended its work with the introduction of seven top teams on July 22nd.
The first Nanotechnology Startup event is now taking place during two stages, with the aim to identify and choose a certain team to attend the first International Nanotechnology Olympiad with a main focus on the applications of nanotechnology in water and wastewater. The first stage of this scientific event was held on July 15-21 at Sharif University of Technology (SUT).
At this event, the teams get a chance to upgrade their capabilities in starting up a nanotechnology-based business with a little help from a network of technology and commercialization experts during a two-stage competition. Hence, 60 out of top 100 competitors of the seventh National Nanotechnology Contest compiled their technical and business ideas in the form of 15 teams within a week, around the clock. These final plans were judged and evaluated, and the startup teams brought to the final stage were selected at a ceremony.
Avan Nano, Nanite, Pakab, Makran, Abino, Caspian, BST and Aquasam were among the top teams brought to the final stage of the first nanotechnology startup event and introduced during the ceremony.
In the final stage, being taken place in August and September, teams will be under professional business training with the presence of professional trainers, and one team including four or five members will be participating as the Special Representative of Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC) at the first International Nano Olympiad (INO).
The participants in this course will learn the fundamentals of business startups by top professors, increase their skills through the empirical competition, discover the business opportunities for nanotechnology in the water sector, and take advantage of the experts’ experiences in the field of nanotechnology, water and business.
It should be noted that the first INO will be held on 10 April 2018 with the focus on nanotechnology applications in water and wastewater, hosted by Tehran.
