In this module you will learn about water and wastewater treatment treatment.


Water and wastewater treatments can clean water during several steps, thereby returning purified water and wastewater to water cycle. These steps differ according to what treatment level one needs, i.e. the removal of contaminants with different size. Solid contaminants usually are separated by the filtration mechanisms, but chemical and biological contaminants are more complex to remove. Desalination and disinfection processes are needed for preparing water for drinking. One can exploit the full potential of nanotechnology in different steps of water treatment to accelerate and increase its efficiency. Nanomembrans and nanocatalysts are effectively used during the water treatment because of their higher performance and efficiency.
