Introduction to Nanotechnology

In this module you will learn about Nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology is the science of studying materials, the way one can fabricate them, and their applications at nanoscale. When the geometrical dimensions of our materials range from 1 to 100 nm, we are speaking of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology pursues the development, modification, or manipulation of materials or devices at this scale. At nanoscale, materials show different properties compared to their bulk state, because they obtain an extremely large surface area and get affected by the quantum confinement phenomenon. Tailorability of properties at nanoscale paves the way for the development of wonderful uses, from medical to electronic and environmental applications. Nanostructures, nanomaterials and nanodevices are often constructed through different synthesis routes which can significantly affect their final properties.
